A little back story: we fell in love in high school. both came from low income families. we had a dream to be more ,do more than our parents. found out I was pregnant my senior year but knew we belonged together so we kept the baby. when she was 2 we went to the courthouse and finalized it. we were finally married. after her brother was born we had saved up every extra penny we could spare to buy a wedding dress and rent a small venue for the reception. at this point we had been married 6 years already. months before the wedding my 3 year old son was crushes by a partial wall at a local business. they should have had it secured but they didn't. another older child pushed it on top of him. we were rushed to Minnesota children's hospital which was 3 hours away from home. we had to leave behind our girls and our jobs to be with him. it was one of the worst femur breaks they had seen in a child. weeks without our daughters. no income coming in. it was horrible. a friend tried to throw a nice benefit with donations to auction off and no one showed up. we were devastated. we made the hard decision to use our wedding fund to catch up on bills and pay for gas and hotel stays as we had to travel back and forth between Wisconsin and Minnesota weekly for his care. it was the hardest part of our lives. my heart goes out to anyone who has ever had to watch their child go through something so terrible.
