@mrs.stolzandstripes: Sue me! It’s baby # 4 and I’m doing what I want and know I like. These are things we’ve done with other kids and they’ve all come out great and healthy! #fyp #foryou #birth #sueme #militarylife
I find it so weird how SOME women advocate for feminism and a women now has a choice of what to do with HER child, but when it comes to the topic of “skin to skin” people are quick to bash a mother. No studies show that doing skin to skin makes or creates a bond with your child, it’s what women have been told and now that’s what they do. That’s called patriarchy.

No skin to skin is actually to cruel and heartbreaking….babies do not realize they are separate from you until like 4 months.

“Nothings wrong with not doing skin to skin” YES THERE IS. There is absolutely no risk to doing it, and the BENEFITS ARE ASTRONOMICAL. You not doing it is basically saying fuck any and all benefits this could give to my child.

You can plan on what you like pre birth, what actually happens is a completely different matter.
Having the baby sleep in your room is to help them regulate their breathing BTW, which cuts the sids risk.

I was too unwell after birth to do skin to skin but I can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t do it given the choice

Ah thats so sad :( skin to skin is so so important. Also sharing a room with your baby reduces the risk of SIDS :(

A lot of the things here fall under “you do you” but ignoring evidence based safety things like room sharing is a really strange thing to boast about. SIDS isn’t a fairy story

Baby sleeping in the room with an adult from 0-6 months is so important to reduce SIDS. why you wouldn’t want to help reduce the chances of this happening. I don’t know. A monitor is not a replacement to and adults moving and breathing that a new borns brain tunes into

hi from a student midwife having baby sleep in the same room as you for at least the first 6 months is crucial to help them regulate their own temp and breathing as they can’t on their own that young it’s for their safety!!!

You couldn't pry this information out of me 😬😬 no skin to skin immediately after birth is cruel. Some things should be non negotiable for the health and wellbeing of the child.
