not that long ago I was at deaths door inside the icu, not once did I ever care where the doctors and nurse who saved my life came from, i was just happy to have people around who care about the patients who care about getting us better and helping us move on

My mum works as a nurse for the NHS and when was younger, I was self aware of racism since I've experienced it so I always worried she would be harmed just by some skin colour, it wasn't later I went to her work place that all the staff and patients were treating with the same respect as everyone else which made me pretty happy as a child

Thank you to the Nigerian Nurses who looked after my Mum after she had 9 seizures in 12 hours and snapped her shoulder socket ❤️you guys helped her through the worst time in her life and thanks to you and all the other amazing staff I still have my Mum. i have worked in care my entire career, i have met people from every single continent and i can quite honestly say that they have been some of the most genuine, caring and generous people ive ever met.

My grandad would have died sooner and no one would’ve found his incredibly rare form of cancer if it wasn’t for a Filipino nurse who noticed something was wrong, even when doctors told him to go home. I had a whole year with my grandad that I almost never had, all because of her. My family and I will always be indebted to her, and I know many, many people would not still be here or have longer with their families if she was not there to notice. We are a melting pot of so many people from so many backgrounds and without them the uk would crumble.
