I guarantee they will make you give up that seat if they have a last minute passenger. I paid for 2 seats and my husband didnt fly so they gave his seat away that I paid for. They can make changes as the deem necessary.

I’m afraid they would try to put someone in that seat anyway that has been bumped from another flight.

The whole point of buying two seats is for the width. Big nope for me if I cannot lift the arm. At that point you are just paying extra so nobody has to sit next to you.
