As a mom, I did not want my daughter unsupervised with males in a work environment. I know from personal experience that is how a lot of adult males gain access to teen girls. Absolutely not.

🤷♀️this may just be regional. My daughter got a job when she was 17 at Plato’s closet and then moved to American eagle because the hours were better. Son who is only 15 is coaching Jiu Jitzu at his gym for extra cash. Both only work a few hours a week but it’s something. It helps that we have a flourishing mall near us that needs teens to work.

I wanted to get a job when I was a teenager, but my grandma told me to wait. She said “once you start working you’ll work the rest of your life. Enjoy being a kid.” She was so right.

Teens shouldn't "need" a job. They should only get a job for pocket money and work experience. If a teen needs a job, then something is wrong bc they shouldn't have to worry about bills.

most companies want open availability and teens don't have that long term. knowing they're going to have 2-3 months with someone then need to fill the spot again long term makes no sense.

the job market isn't what it was. i was able to get jobs left and right as a teen. 15 years later, and people who are incredible can't even find work... there's just no room

My Dad wouldn't let me have a job. He said I'd be working the rest of my life once I was an adult and to enjoy being a kid. I babysat and detassled in the summer, but other than that I enjoyed my childhood.

As a McDonald’s manager, the problem our stores in my area are having is labor cost. My store specifically is the highest sales in the area and are continuing to grow sales every single month. We are breaking sales records every single month. But we are being told by our owners that labor costs are too high. So we are barely surviving on these paychecks, breaking sales records, and literally working every shift with the bare minimum of employees. We are getting 100s of apps and are not allowed to hire. Everyone else’s hours get cut. Doesn’t matter if it’s teens or adults. We don’t have enough jobs for anyone.

My oldest is currently 14 and can legally work in 2 years. He will get a job when he wants to. I'm not forcing any of my kids to work if they don't want to. I'm their parent and regardless of age it's my responsibility to take care of them.
