@pickeringfitness: Dating with herpes is dating on hard mode. Which is exactly why these apply to everyone. 1. You wouldn't have quit dating over one person ghosting you before your diagnosis. So why is it a reason to quit now. Same behaviour, same person, different story you're telling yourself about what it means. 2. Getting ghosted isn't the problem. How long you sit in it is. And the ones who disappear fast are doing you a favour, because you found out in week one instead of month six. 3. Don't get hung up on the ones who aren't hung up on you. There are 8 billion people out here and you've decided the one who left you on read is the only option. You are going to be dead a lot sooner than you think. That is a terrible use of the time. 4. A relationship built on what you provide never feels like one built on who you are. Someone who's there for what you can give them leaves the second you can't give it. 5. It was my job to lead the conversation, not hers to reassure me. The last thing anyone wants is to be your therapist about your own diagnosis. 6. They react to your energy, not your information. She was never uncomfortable with the diagnosis. She was uncomfortable that I was. 7. Status is real, and nobody wants to admit it. Build a life worth being curious about and the conversation stops being about what's wrong with you. Which brings me to the least believable thing I've ever said out loud. I got status for having an STD, and my dating life got better. DM me the word HARDMODE if you want help getting there. #herpes #hsvpositive #datingwithherpes #datingadvice #herpesstigma
