Scylla was the one part that seemed CG to me. I as surprised to find out that the whirlpool was mostly real.

The direct human to pig face was good clay work and camera panning hiding behind her back to fade and cut to record again quicker than the human eye can catch it. The pig back to human as she says "back to your disguises" was the exact same but in reverse. Showing the pigs, then panning the camera behind her back and fade cut back to human. Honestly brilliant work.

I was there, the difficult part wasn't turn us into pigs, the difficult part was turn us back to humans, because we were happy pigs playing around, so them production staff were chasing us all over the set.

The cgi is an overlay on a practical effect. So instead of her making weird hand gestures like Wanda, she’s kneeling a movable prop that takes certain shapes, then after the shot the cgi makes it what we saw. It’s not that there’s no cgi it’s that she’s not behind a green screen.

It was an extremely grotesque and shocking scene. It’s surprising to hear that no CGI was used.

That scene was so unsettling. The cyclops too. Your expectations of the natural order of humankind are upended.

It gave me a old horror movie vibe like Witches didn’t realize because of the lack of cgi but that’s why

his films do use cg btw. obviously its amazing what he manages practically but to say he uses no cg is misleading. where a marvel movie might have 2000 cg shots a nolan film might have 500

If that’s actually all in camera that’s up there for one of the best practical shots ever done.
