my husband and I will be able to retire at 55 because we both worked. Yes there are other things in that - yes we are fortunate/ doesn’t change that if I had not worked, he would not be retiring at 55.

I was shocked to hear a woman in her 60s mention asking her husband about buying something. She got married when she was 21. She has had to ask her husband about every purchase for 40 YEARS!!! She said it so casually like that’s what everyone has to do. Ain’t no way in hell

You know what i love? Making money so i can pay for a cleaner, a meal prep service and vacations!!! Also I get better gifts and we save more. Why would i want to be cleaning at home when i can be tippy tapping on my computer with AC and getting paid for it!

I would much rather do housework than go to a job, but the idea of not having my own money and having to ask someone else if I can buy something disgusts me in a way like no other. I would have to truly hate myself to essentially be asking for an allowance. I’m a grown ssa woman and if I want something I’m buying it. I remember in college my coworker who was like 40 wasn’t the bread winner and she had to ask her husband if she could buy a $20 pair of shoes and that was a lifestyle I didn’t know existed and it is one I refuse to have.

I don’t understand the ones that stay at home after the kids go to school. I mean, get an education and find the unicorn work situation. Having the extra money is freaking amazing. Stop making your husbands work more than 40 hours a week which isn’t fair and may eventually ruin the marriage because he doesn’t know the kids and you don’t have much relationship time alone with him. I love having my 100% remote career that is super flexible and I make nearly double what my husband makes as a union plumber making over scale.
