I don’t think it’s “normal” for a 20 month old to be waking up like a 3 month old at night. She knows you’ll come so she gets up and cries.

You give into her way to much! It’s hard - but it’s going to be difficult if you don’t stop!

People don’t realize that breastfeed babies are MORE likely to wake in the night!

You might need dad to do the bedtimes and all the wake ups for a few days once she realise she not getting milk and learns to self sooth she will sleep better.

Everyone commenting about you “giving in” is irritating tf out of me clearly never had a breastfed baby past like 6 months lol. She’s not even 2 the aap recommends breastfeeding til 2 people are just ignorant. So proud of you!! her just being in her bed is an accomplishment!! You’re my comfort creator normalizing real moms!

I had to break the overnight feeds by having dad go in to comfort! Worked like a charm! 💕

My daughter is 15mos old. We have cut down nursing a lot! Even though I was ready to stop, she wasn't and so as I started sleep training we cut night feeds cold turkey night 1 and then day feeds gradually. My daughter doesn't sleep through the night yet and she went from cosleeping to on her own. Its a big change for them. You're doing great!! ❤️Her body will start to learn its ok to sleep through the night instead of waking up. Everything always takes time.

Maybe try having dad go in if able!!! I feel like if you tried to teach her that comfort doesn’t necessarily need to mean milk!! Not trying to be rude at all just trying to help! Or even if you went in and just continued to pat her butt I know it’s sad but it’s truly better for both of you!!!

The night feeds are often the last to go. The sleep inducing, bonding hormones are so helpful for getting smoothly to sleep. I know it’s hard on you both, mama.

All babies sleep eventually but I don’t get why make them wait till they’re 3/4 years old to get an restorative consolidated night of sleep when you can teach them how to get it at 6 months old

I know you want to get pregent soon and if your body is still puting all its energy on nova since she does act like a newborn in certain aspects, it might reject. you need some you time girl!!! and some more bodily autonomy

This is a system she has been thoroughly accustomed to, and it’s not going to break unless you do. Unfortunately she knows what to do to get that comfort from you. She will never learn to self soothe through the night until you let her. Otherwise you might just want to get comfortable with continuing this while your pregnant and tandem feeding with newborn. Small steps are great but it’s still a final big one that you have to stand firm in.
