Journey_to_randomness :
The main point is that AI is getting better a 1000 fold with each passing year. I started doing AI art, videos 3 yrs ago. Back when it actually required skill. But I saw how fast it was improving and knew within a short time that folks with no skill would be able to make stuff with AI. Now the internet is flooded with AI garbage. In 2 more years a single prompt will probably be able to create a 2 hour movie. But accessibility will drop drastically because what no one is talking about is the fact that anthropic is losing more money than it is earning. The hook/trial period is almost over and token prices will skyrocket and many small businesses that rely heavily on AI will simply not be able to afford it. A 100.00 dollar monthly subscription is now a 700.00 or more. So make the most of it while you can 👍

Everyone can cook. But few can create recipes

Your analogy is spot on, which is why we do need to learn to code. There is a difference between cooking, cooking well, and the art of cooking. AI is building code off of all of the similar ideas on Stack Exchange, online tutorials and published coding content. It's averaging the responses to find the most likely correct but not necessarily the best. We need more programmers to create new ideas, push the limits and challenge the status quo in the same way we need chefs who can combine Italian, French and Chinese food palates to create amazing dishes.

I wanted to create software so bad. I started the free Harvard computer science courses and it just about melted my brain. Then walked in vibe coding and my dreams came true. I’m so happy

Back in 1987, I did the British Computer Society Foundation. A little bit of programming (Dos and Basic), some database and spreadsheet stuff and I even learnt to type all in evening classes. It has been invaluable! I'm sure the equivalent more for someone starting their career will be extremely useful. Get cooking😁👏👏👏

I don’t know how to code, but I understand enough about how it works to direct coding work. I can think in systems and objects and think ahead to ask good questions and avoid pitfalls. And I just finished my first app: MegaMusic 😁

ive said to my friend like 15 years ago that coders are like wizards in a land of most people cant do magic. but what if one day a wizard come up with a magic that allows non wizards to use magic too?

what are we talking about here? simple programming yes advanced programming no we're talking millions of lines of code potentially what would you say like 10,000 lines is manageable for one person. and using untested software especially for security who's going to buy that how you going to guarantee upkeep of the product the answer is you can't. you can make the model of the car reliably but the functioning car not so much.

But real talk, I read your mentor's message as... english, math, coding are life skills. I do not need to be an author, mathematician, or programmer but I better damn well know the basics of these 3 because AI will create so many unique programs I'll need to know the difference between program "a" that tastes good because it was created very well or program "b" that tastes good because it's loaded with sugar, fat, and sodium.

You are not wrong. I’m sure my apps and platforms that I’ve built from zero are pure slop on the eyes of a pro coder. However, it absolutely solved the need and consistently improves. So, quality or not, I built, I deployed, I stopped paying 3rd parties. ✅
