@summer.walk: Silicones are one of the most misunderstood ingredients in hair care. If your goal is long, healthy-looking hair, they can actually be one of your biggest allies. Here’s what silicones do:
• Smooth the cuticle for shinier, “glass hair”
• Reduce friction while brushing and styling
• Help prevent split ends and mechanical damage
• Protect hair from humidity and reduce frizz
• Add slip, making detangling easier
• Many also provide heat protection What they don’t do:
They don’t suffocate your hair (hair is dead tissue and doesn’t “breathe.”)
They don’t permanently damage healthy hair. They don’t stop moisture from getting in when your hair is properly washed. The key is balance. If you use silicone-based products regularly, clarify your hair every week or two (or as needed based on your routine) to remove buildup. Silicones aren’t the enemy. For many hair types especially long, damaged, color-treated, or frizz-prone hair they’re one of the best ingredients for protecting length and keeping hair looking healthy. #hairtok #haircare #healthyhair #glasshair #shinyhairroutine

I’ve been using silicones and it’s made my hair so much better! Also protein once a month!

my hair IMMEDIATELY started improving when I started using silicones in my hair again. Not all the time. And in conjunction with my natural products. But they have made a huge difference.

I maintain that while using heat on my hair, it was the healthiest it's ever been. I went natural and it's destroyed. It's brittle and dry and breaks constantly. I've lost at least half of it.

Since I stopped straightening my hair, it now reaches a bit below my hips, so I don't really trust the straightener—it used to cause breakage when I used it.

I added layers to my hair 2 years ago. When my hair was even longer than hers and all one length. My hair has been stuck growing in a V shape despite always cutting the point at the end. It will be that way until my last layer reaches my desired length. Don’t cut layers guys 😭
