@jonaheisenschenk: Conflict isn’t what ends most relationships. The inability or unwillingness to repair often does. I think one of the most underrated love languages is choosing repair after disharmony. Every relationship will experience misunderstandings, disappointment, frustration, and moments where we unintentionally hurt one another. That’s part of being human. The invitation isn’t to avoid conflict altogether. It’s to learn how to move back toward one another when it happens. Sometimes that means taking a step back before taking a step forward. Giving ourselves enough space to notice what’s happening within us, regulate our own nervous system, and separate the facts from the stories our mind may be creating. Not to avoid the conversation. Not to withdraw. But to return to it from a place of openness, curiosity, acceptance, accountability, and a genuine desire to understand rather than simply be understood. Sometimes repair sounds like: “I’m sorry.” “Help me understand what you mean, or what you’re feeling.” “I can see how that impacted you.” “Can we try that again?” Sometimes repair isn’t just found in the words we choose. It’s found in our willingness to co-regulate with one another. To slow down. To listen. To stay present. To help one another find safety again instead of continuing the cycle of protection and reactivity. Emotional safety and trust are built not because two people never experience disharmony, but because they know they’ll find their way back. Again and again and again. Not perfectly, but intentionally. Because sometimes the deepest expression of love isn’t avoiding conflict. It’s choosing repair with enough humility to regulate ourselves, enough courage to stay present, and enough compassion to grow through it together. #lovelanguages #relationships #repair #healthyrelationships #creatorsearchinsights

Time alone to reflect, talk, build acceptance for any part of the issue, plan what to do next time it happens to show you care for repair. Show love. ❤️

we cannot repair if we do not acknowledge the discomfort… my ex and I ended as he preferred space and when he was ready to come back, he would pretend like nothing happened. 😭

I was always taught, don’t let the sun go down when there’s a disagreement…to talk and try to mend it asap. Get to the point of at least hugging it out.

We do learn how to repair only by experience and age. How we choose to repair and respond has to do with where we are at in our healing process and how much peace we want to create in our lives.

Just went through this very thing. Siting across the table from a friend who said something that kicked a trigger and reared its ugly head. I immediately shut down, and it took everything I had, but I began to tell her what she said hurt, and then I started blaming. Thankfully she is older and has experienced more of these situations and is willing to stay calm when I couldn’t in the moment. We talked through and after I did get curious this time. And I asked how do I have that feeling of going red, but also being true to myself and not shutting down or pretending I’m okay? And I was able to answer my own question this time! It’s so simple. Own my own feelings and don’t blame. It feels hard, but it’s actually quite simple. And today I realized for the first time that it’s easy to see people as the enemy in close relationships because triggers and blind spots are inevitable. But the reality is, if you have a relationship with someone who is also dedicated to healing and loving people then neither party is the enemy. The enemy is the enemy!!!!!!! 😁 You always seem to post the exact situation I’m working through at the moment! What’s up with that??? 😂
