My daughter smacked a boy in 1st grade because he was making fun of a specific needs kid. She ended up spending almost every recess with the kid that was bullied and her friend group always included him. She’s a wonderful person and I’m so proud of her. She’s 24 now and still stands up for people.

I had a friend in 3rd grade who had crazy allergies and health issues. There were times that he missed weeks of school. One of the days he was at school we had an assembly. We were sitting down next to each other and right after we sat down he told me that he wanted to thank me. I asked him why and he told me that it was because I didn’t treat him differently from everyone else despite his health concerns and that I had made him feel like a normal kid. I didn’t see him at the start of 4th grade and was convinced that he moved or something until one day one of the other teachers said that there was a kid who had health issues at the start of the year that was finally able to come back to school but that he had a bit of a cough from his health issues and that she wanted us to treat him kindly. I had a sneaking feeling that it was him and it was and we hung out until Covid happened. I haven’t gotten to talk to him since but I miss him and I hope he’s doing well

I rode the same bus for years. I always sat in the front and never talked to anyone. One time in high school , a bus driver missed my stop and I was too shy to say anything. Suddenly, the cool kids who sat in the back piped up and told the bus driver that she missed my house. We weren’t friends, but they always made sure I was dropped off

I still remember the guy who walked me from class to class when I was being bullied my freshman year of high school. I was thinking about him one day and looked him up on Facebook 20 years later. He was going through Cancer treatment. I wrote to him and thanked him. We made a deal to get coffee once he got better. We were able to get that cup of coffee and he told me he got my message on a particularly bad day and it helped him push through. Today we’re good friends. Cancer is the real bully but I am so grateful our friendship is tougher. Keep fighting Mike. I love you!

when I was a child, there was a boy with cerebral palsy in my year in primary school (UK). EVERYONE was nice to him. He was so loved. BUT during our final year before secondary school we went on a residential trip (where you sleep over with teachers and other class mates) He couldn't attend as his disability would have prevented him from joining in. i bought him a frog toy from the gift shop and gave it to him after the trip. He was so touched, he teared up and told me frogs were his favourite animal. I remember him fondly, he was such a sweet kid.

Before I left school I didn’t really have any friends and was bullied quite a bit, I’d spend pretty much all of my time hiding in the bathroom to escape everyone and showed up to like 10% of my classes. Again with having no friends I tended to sit alone on the school bus but one day one of my brothers friends, who was a couple years older than me, offered to let me sit with her on the way to and back from school. It was about the only time in my school day that I didn’t feel completely alone and on the uncommon days when I did actually go in it was usually because of her. I know the whole thing only made up about half an hour of the day but it really helped me and idk if she even knows. I still appreciate it Chloe 💕. PS: if anyone who follows me sees this, sorry ik it’s cringy but I wanna join in on the comments 😔😭.

Not my story, my best mate passed her yearbook around, not many signed it. The most popular bloke wrote a heartfelt message that was referred to a moment she had no idea he noticed. She was stunned.

we can still do this as adults. my 26 year old brother died as a result of alcoholism. I wrote a little substance abuse awareness blurb for our newsletter and said addiction is a disease. a co worker i had never spoken to gave me a card and said he also struggles with alcoholism and my brother's story inspired him to seek treatment. he said me showing love for someone who suffered from alcoholism made him realize he deserved love too

Towards the beginning of my grade 12 year, my entire grad class went on a weekend camping trip. We did a dance one night kinda spontaneously. There were a couple guys from the hockey team that made sure to dance with every single girl. It didn’t affect me super personally, but I still think about it. It was just a really thoughtful thing to do

When my mama passed away, the kids that went to the after school program my school had made cards for me. It’s been 14 years and I still have all the cards. I read them whenever I’m feeling sad about my mama. It truly helped knowing people cared.

At my 10 year reunion a man I went to school with introduced me to his wife and told her that I was the only person who treated him like a human being in high school. Y’all. There were 500+ people in my class!

Had a girl who bullied me relentlessly through school we both left never heard anything about her until about 10 years later she messaged me out the blue to apologise and tell me that my daughter had defended her daughter to a bully in school earlier that day and she wanted me to know that she was sorry for everything she done and what she put my mother through....because she was now in my mother place....her daughter and mine are still friends to this day.

When I was 14 I moved in with my dad and started high school not knowing anyone. The first day there people were so rude I took my lunch and went to eat in the bathroom just to hide. A girl came up to me and pulled me out of there, sat me at her table and told me that she was my friend now. That was 23yrs ago and she’s still my best friend

In high school I always took the time to help a non verbal girl. She always lit up when she saw me. Over 20 years later I saw her in a store. She was with a care worker. She started jumping up and down and ran to me for a hug. I’ve never had someone so happy to see me. It’s now been 30 years. I think of her often and hope she’s ok 💗
