Fun fact! ao3 lets you set your own publish date for old fics that are just now being brought around. this happens a lot with iwtv specifically because before Anne Rice died she would fight tooth and nail with copywrite law to prevent fanfiction from being put anywhere. when she died ao3 exploded almost overnight with it

what’s so funny is there was the forbidden archive before AO3 which was just dedicated to interview with the vampire/vampire chronicle fans 😭 Anne rice came after them HARD and the site was password protected for a bit lmaoo she didn’t want ANYONE writing fanfics abt her work

AO3 wasn't around in the 90s. BUT it's an archive, and thus they let you set the date before publishing the fic, so this person probably originally wrote this fic in some forum or website back in the 90s and just decided to put it on AO3.
