They call and expect me to know the engine size and the model half the time. I’ve had people call and say they need parts, but say “it’s a 2019 Kia” 2019 Kia what? “I don’t know it’s just a Kia” -_-

This applies to “professional” shops too. Had a shop call one day for Iirc a 99 or 2000 Chevy. He told me c1500 not a Silverado 1500. I sent him 2 wheel bearings, inner and outer. He called back saying they were wrong. It was a hub assembly. And of course he wanted the hub assembly for the price of 2 separate bearings.

I loved when “pro” shops would use the online ordering system. We’d pull the part and deliver with the sticker that had the part number they wanted right on the box. Only for them to freak out that we sent the wrong part. No you ordered the wrong part bud.

If i ask you any specs on your car, its because my catalog needs to narrow down the exact part you need. Don't tell me it doesn't matter when the catalog is requiring me to ask. A lot of stuff doesn't but theres thousands upon thousands of parts i can get for the vehicle and just a name of a part narrows it to a few hundred in most cases

This reminds me of an old Napa store in the small town close to me about 20 yeas ago. Mr Greg was a premo smartaz but he knew his isht when it came to parts. That old building was boarded up years ago but the old sign is still on it rusting away 😥

My favorite call I’ve gotten was a woman called us asking for a part for her car and we asked what was the car and she said verbatim: “how am I supposed to know, that’s what you get paid for!” We said ma’am we can’t see your car physically right now so we can’t just guess what your car is she proceeded to say that this is why she trusts O’Reilly’s and hung up all of us just laughed because wdym that’s our job to know your car by heart
