Please don’t waste your precious energy on people whose only contribution is judgement. You’ve never asked anyone to excuse what your son did. You’ve openly acknowledged that he made a terrible decision and that he has to live with the consequences. You’re simply sharing the heartbreak of a mother who loves her son and is grieving the years she’ll lose with him. Those two things can both be true. I’ve often thought that people who are quick to throw stones online are usually carrying something heavy themselves. Research suggests that those who are the harshest and most judgemental are often acting from a place of anger, insecurity, unhappiness or unresolved pain. It’s easier to project that onto strangers than to sit with it yourself. The people who matter will hear your heart. The rest are telling you far more about themselves than they ever are about you. Keep sharing your truth. It will reach the people who need it.
