My wife had learned a little bit of ASL before we had my daughter. When we learned she was autistic and (at the time) nonverbal we decided to learn ASL alot more in depth and my goodness has it helped with her because she has to stop. watch and think about what she is going to do. she doesnt sign to much but she understands ALOT of different words. meltdowns can be stopped early with signing!
