🚨 NINA SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 2PM 🚨 I have met Nina multiple times, and each time my heart breaks a little more. She is absolutely terrified. Nina does not know who I am or that I am there to help her, so she does the only thing she knows how to do in a frightening place. She defends herself. When I approach her kennel she will bark and stay on guard, but she will take treats from me, which shows there is still curiosity and a willingness to engage underneath all that fear. Shelter staff say that when they open her kennel to clean, Nina simply tucks herself into the corner and allows them to work. She is not attacking them. She is a scared little dog trying to survive in a loud, chaotic environment where everything feels threatening. The shelter has labeled her behavior as concerning, but what I see is a dog who is overwhelmed and reacting the only way she knows how in a place that feels very scary to her. Nina was recently moved from the loud, overcrowded tent into public view, and I am hoping to spend time sitting quietly outside her kennel to slowly build trust with her. Dogs like Nina often need time, patience, and a calm environment to decompress, something the shelter simply cannot provide. This girl is going to need all of us together fighting for her to save her life. She needs rescue more than ever right now. Without people advocating for her, sharing her story, and helping her find the right rescue that understands fearful dogs, she may never get the chance she deserves. Nina needs patience, compassion, and a safe place to decompress so she can finally learn that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Kennel: D 71 Name: Nina 🕘 Hours: • Mon–Tue, Thu–Fri: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM • Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM • Sat–Sun: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM#usa
