Mind you, it's THEIR FAULT that we aren't taught these things anymore. I did not make a conscious decision when I was in elementary school to just not learn cursive. Either way, I don't know why we're going under this assumption that every Gen Z person is incompetent and shares the exact same level of intelligence as eachother. The chances of EVERY 18 year old in that group not knowing how to do at least ONE of those things is very slim.

Notice how they always mock younger generations for not using things THEY phased out?? We didn’t invent GPS. We didn’t invent touch-tone phones. We didn’t stop teaching ourselves cursive. We didn’t stop teaching ourselves to drive manual transmissions. We sure as hell didn’t make and hand out the participation trophies.

my theory is that boomers have no problem solving abilities, so they assume we dont either. my dad showed me a rotary phone when I was young (maybe 8 - 10) and it took me less than 10 minutes to figure it out. paper maps work exactly like digital ones. all clocks have 12 hours and 60 minutes to an hour, again easy to figure out if you know how time is written. and cursive is only difficult at a glance, anyone can read it if given a second. my dad has had a smartphone for the last 15 years and he still doesnt know how to use the keyboard, find specific settings, troubleshoot basic problems, etc.
