PH BUREAUCRACY IS INSANE!!! esp since i lived in the US for a few yrs grabe the difference...i asked for a bank statement at an american bank and they were like "yeah sure here u go" I WAS SHOOK

Particularly for the banking concern, I get that it’s frustrating, but as someone who has experienced identity theft, Id rather fill out all these forms if that makes it harder to con me. Scammers are so much more creative, smart and techy these days. If it were too easy it’d make fraud, scams, and unauthorized access easier too. It’s a hassle, but if making it inconvenient for EVERYONE including the criminals, I dont mind spending extra 30mins of my life filling out those silly forms.

Same feeling when I tried opening a “checking” account sa bank. So many docs + kailangan pa may savings account ka for 6 months with their bank. I WAS SO SHOCKED. In Dubai I apply in app and get the card next day 🥺

Hi! You can definitely buy USD against PHP even if it’s not for travel. If you’re buying USD for investment purposes (for example, to gain exposure to a stronger currency) that’s generally allowed. The catch is that, under BSP FX regulations, the proceeds must be placed in an eligible investment with a minimum 90-day tenor, such as a USD time deposit or U.S. Treasury bills.
