Well I did not know about that one. And I love my wild plants. I’m a professional gardener. My kids eat half the plants in the garden. Sometimes I wish I’d told them that the toxic ones were edible. 😂

wasn't it thought that diarrhoea is the bodies way of ridding illness, so it makes sense they'd want to induce more diarrhoea if that was the belief because it would get rid of the cause of the sickness faster.

It's not that spicy tbh. In Malaysia we use it in cooking like Laksa Penang or Asam pedas(Johor version). We add birds eye chili for laksa.

I assume it’s use for diarrhoea would have been linked to the four humours, and it probably was thought of as a ‘dry’ herb to combat the wetness of… well… diarrhoea 😂
