Matthew Coscia :
One of the cruelest things about problem gambling is that, unlike many other addictions, there often isn't a natural saturation point.
With alcohol or drugs, the body eventually reaches a limit. With gambling, there is always one more bet to place, one more spin, one more hand, one more chance to "win it back." The losses don't satisfy the addiction, they often fuel it.
That's what makes gambling addiction so dangerous. It can consume savings, relationships, careers, and mental health without any obvious physical signs. Many people struggling with it look completely fine on the outside while fighting an exhausting battle on the inside.
Problem gambling isn't about a lack of willpower or poor character. It's an addiction that can affect anyone, and the sooner we replace judgment with understanding and support, the better chance people have of breaking the cycle.
