@itslouietime09: For educational purposes: "Fast Car" isn't just a classic anthem, it's a devastatingly real story about cycle-breaking, generational trauma, and the trap of the American Dream. Here is the hidden genius in Tracy Chapman's songwriting that completely changes how you hear the ending. #tracychapman #fastcars #music #musichistory #musicjourney
Not really about the US dream but how woman are expected to care for men that drag them down and how that cycle continues until you put yourself first.

It's just like Luka by Suzanne Vega and Chadelier by Sia to me. I was happy singing and humming along until one fine day the lyrics landed 🥹

Tracy Chapman’s songs are soo good lyrically! Across the Line, Behind the wall, America and Before Easter are songs with a strong meaning behind them.

This song hits hard to me. I'm the alcoholic in the story and everyone abandoned me but my middle son. He was the only one who wasn't going to leave me for dead. I love him so much for it. I've been sober for two years and he lives with his other brother now and is in nursing school. The ending is better in my son's story. lol. the remake of this song was popular when this was going down. I cry when it comes on

it's got extra meaning for me, as my mum and dad use to listen to Tracy while both in active addiction and my dad hurting my mum. I can't listen to her now. 😅
