i’m waiting for a missionary and we’re both absolutely thriving!! i focused on dating so much in high school, im so glad to be done with it and have this time to focus on myself so i personally don’t feel limited at all!

Can we talk about how these people afford to get married right after mission? No college, no jobs… how are the engagement rings, weddings..apartments funded?

As someone who’s 37 in Utah…I have seen the current states of these types of marriages. It’s not great sometimes. Sometimes it is. The issue is the church teaches you to simply get married to ANYONE who is LDS, an RM and who wants a temple marriage and is temple worthy. They don’t ever, not once, touch on what makes someone a good partner! I’m sorry, but being LDS does NOT mean you’re automatically compatible. How do they handle finances? Are they someone who’s gonna talk out an argument or go on a drive for 3 hours and make you feel abandoned? How do they handle stress like losing a job or feeling unsuccessful? Do they handle it pretty well or do they take it out on people around them or delve into 🌽 or other bad habits? Is one of you an introvert and another an extrovert? If he’s introverted, and you’re extroverted, is he still gonna make an effort to go out with you to go to concerts YOU like? What about visit places YOU wanna visit? How does he see parenting going? Does he believe in punishment like groundings or spanking? What kind of examples did he have growing up? Is he intelligent? Do you guys agree on politics? Or is he someone who wants to understand you or simply govern you? What if one of you leaves the church down the road? What then? You need to learn about yourself! Explore the world. I promise it’s not as small as the church wants you to believe. You are a whole human with infinite mystery. Start figuring out what you believe and feel SEPARATE from your parents, the church, and a man.

Well, I wanna date while he’s on his mission or at least try it’s not that I really want to but like you said I like owe it to myself to live my life. It’s also my senior year of high school so I can’t shut myself off to that. With that being said though I’m going on a mission right when I graduate so I think we will be growing towards the same direction and hopefully end up together. So I think waiting but with intention and not shutting yourself off is the best way to do it.

So um no! I will be waiting for my missionary because we grew up together and he is my best friend. They are literally teaching missionaries how to stay loyal to their girls back at home. My PRIME life can be spent without a man. I am a person who has fun with hobbies, friends and activities. I know what I like and I like my man. I am happy for to reunite with my man as changed individuals who are closer to the Lord!
