It’s a great choice - he is a strong experienced senior minister and works well as a team leader and thats what MOD needs right now. Defence experience can be gleamed by CDS, CGS, First Sea Lord and Head of RAF and their staff plus his junior ministers (not seen who has been appointed to those posts yet)
