anytime I feel that familiar crest of frustration swelling up in my chest, I always remind myself that the first person who taught me how to walk and use a spoon is my mom. If you are now at the age where 'the tables have fully turned', then you can look at it as your parents doing a good job with you because you are now ready for the world. it's their first time living too. there were a lot of things they had to figure out as they went along with life.

Yes, I always wondered how my mum managed to travel here alone 30+ years ago from another country to find a job, when there wasn’t technology, no google maps, no smartphones! Now she can’t even find her way within the city 😂

our parents aren’t getting any younger and as we age, they do too. as they get older they start to age backwards and deteriorate. It’s so frustrating but we just need to learn to be patient 🥹

this looks like travelling with toddlers. no point planning a day full of activities & lots of walking, you’ve got to keep it flexible for breaks and keep it chill. keep them updated on plans, when the next meal & loo break is. it’ll be easier if you manage it that way

what i remember was usually they have a hired tour guide that spoke the local language n drove us around… and they would get like printed maps of local areas and just walk around. nowadays, we still just walk around based on vibes and eat wherever.

My parents didn’t take me overseas when I was small. They only took me travel locally and to bigger cities where there’s no need for any directions because everything was generic. What we do today is beyond their capabilities because they grew up in an era where information wasn’t readily accessible.
