@markonthemoney: Ad Here’s how we’re chipping away at our mortgage through our regular spending. Sprive allows you to buy vouchers for your everyday spending and get cashback to use against your mortgage. We’re overpaying about £25-£30 per month at the moment and that’ll save us over £20k in interest and shave over a year off our mortgage term. Use my affiliate code MARK and you’ll get a £5 bonus when making your first purchase (I’ll also get a kickback at no cost to you).

I have longed for a mortgage and to own my own house but i don’t. I live in a council house in a nice area. My rent is £545 a month. If i were to buy in my area it would be 350K + which i can’t afford. I’ve had a new kitchen, bathroom, solar panels etc. And managed to save 90K along the way for my future.

All these comments must be people who live up north because I don't know anyone round my way (London/Kent) who has a mortgage under £450k. All of us in our 30s with families and houses worth £500k+

Blimey, that's a pretty hefty mortgage! And there's me worrying about a £150k balance and wanting to increase my overpayment.

This comment section is ridiculous lol. This is incredibly common for anyone living around London. House prices are £700,00+ on average, and if people are putting down a 20/30% deposit - this will leave a hefty sum still to pay. Not everyone wants to line in a shed or in the middle of nowhere up north!

Let's be honest, if you're spending 650£ p/m at Sainsbury's and you have a 500k mortgage, you have the money

The thing is… all you people on here in your 30s with a 500 grand mortgage will realise that when you get to your 50s this all means nothing. Spend your money on getting value out of your life rather than into an empty pit. Enjoy your money and Travel.
