I absolutely love stinging nettles (Urtica dioica) ❤️ It is one of the most nutritive herbs on land and it’s one of the safest as well. It has so many different uses—gently supporting your overall health. It’s useful for reducing inflammation in the body and helping to slow down aging related damage. It is a great source of calcium as it is highly bio available— it’s also written in magnesium and potassium. it can support nerve health and help to relax the body as well as reduce blood pressure because of its potassium content. it has all nine essential amino acids needed to be a complete protein. It is rich and vitamin C and high in iron so we can help people with anemia and it can support your immune function as it is rich and vitamin C— as well as vitamin A, which is excellent for your skin, health, nerve health and eye health. They can reduce allergy symptoms because it is a natural antihistamine. It can support your gut health and remove toxins from the body because it is an insoluble fiber so it can help to keep you regular as far as bowel movements— we need this, especially as we age. it is also useful in relieving symptoms of gout because it can help to remove uric acid from the body. Talk about front page news status! We need to be shouting, the stuff from the rooftops. My favorite way to use nettle is to make a tea and sometimes I will add other herbs to spruce up the flavor because it is a pretty flat flavor. I like adding peppermint and sometimes I make a chai with it using cardamom, star anise, oatstraw, cloves, etc… I get mine from either @Fro@Frontier Co-op@Mou@Mountain Rose Herbsu can also make broth with it. You can take stinging nettle and cook with it because cooking it removes the sting drying it also removes the sting. it is fairly easy to grow. Just be careful handling it because it can sting so it’s best to use gloves if you are cutting it fresh from the garden. It’s best to ask your doctor before using any herbal supplements, especially if you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or on medication. This is not medical advice and I’m not a medical professional.
