This was the same at Tenerife, if you’re going somewhere with lots of young children on your flight the manual queues are the biggest. Same for departing too.

we came through Palma airport last week and was through within 5 mins. that was 2 adults and 2 children under 12. both adults had to do fingerprints etc and then all 4 of us went to a manual desk straight after and flew through! think it also depends on arrival time etc!

we are going in two weeks. as a family of 6 one of which is under 12 can my partner get in the queue with him instead of going through the ees and have his passport checked x

When you return, go through security, keep heading to your gate, there are more ES checks. Go past the McDonald's and other restaurants and keep going until the ES checks again. Then eat after at the restaurants pasts the ES gates. People are stopping and eating before the gates and then having to queue and missing flights xx

this is quite useful info a, we go away as a big family october 2027. means we shall only leave one or two of us with the kids, there will be 5 under 12 so probably alright to just leave them with one adult

On the way home to Birmingham its 10’s and over that can go through the passport self scanning which was super fast for us last week xx

Thankfully we’re going to Greece , they’re not implementing the ES until next year . I did read though hun that Birmingham Airport are allowing kids 8-11 use the automatic passport machines on return x

Same at Gran Canaria, we went Feb half term. 30 of us and we was the only ones with kids under 12, we had to wait 2 hours in the queue while everyone else collected our bags and waited on the other side. Absolute nightmare

I hate flying from Birmingham the last time it took us two hours to get through customs and that wasn’t the first time. We fly from Manchester now when we can.

I’ve just come back from Palma and it wasn’t actually that busy at all. There was a little queue. The only thing I would say was disappointing was they didn’t know what the sunflower lanyard was. That was the same coming in and I find the e gates quite stressful as I have to stare into a camera. Which actually hurts my eyes. Just wanted to make people with additional needs aware.

A lot of the airports have turned the EES systems off over the summer holiday period. We’ve just come back from a cruise and flew into and out of Rome and we didn’t have to do it.
