Not surprised. I don’t have sickle cell but in my 30s I had a serious procedure due to a doctor error I got a bad infection. I was hospitalized and I was really deathly ill cause they were not sure what was going on. I heard the nurse outside my room laughing about me pretending to be sick. I was a 30 something-year-old woman who had no other illnesses. The doctors from infectious disease were in my room every day trying to figure out what was wrong with me and she thought I wasn’t sick. Everybody was checking to see what was wrong with me. I had been in the hospital I think almost 7 days that never happens insurance will kick you out so she came in and she was really like rough with me and really nasty and she was like you better get up you better do this. You better do that I was so sick. There was no way to argue back to it so I got up like she said, but I got up slowly and I ended up getting really sick and she ended up having to clean it up and then she said oh my God you are really sick. If you don’t wanna be a good nurse and have any empathy for your patients you should not be a nurse.
