@corydeville: Should the TTC remain open until 4am across all vehicle types (ex., subway, street cars and buses)? I think so. It would help feed our nightlife economy, local businesses that depend upon it, and relieve everyone of needing to spend $80 dollars on an Uber or Lyft to get back home after a night out. My name is Cory Deville. Join me as I become The Next Mayor of Toronto on a People Focused Platform. And like always… vote Deville. It’s good for you. #torontotiktok #onpoli #torontolife #torontonightlife #deville2026

Okay sounds great as someone who uses the subway at 4:30-5am post going out. Butttt I have questions. If you’re increasing services and decreasing fair price, where is the increased budget for this expenditure coming from? What are you doing to mitigate safety concerns? as a woman as much as I would love a late night option. I don’t know if I would be able to utilize them and feel safe.

As a woman, it is a matter of safety. I wouldn’t take the TTC at that time. I’d rather pay an uber and know I will get home safely. Maybe just run on making the

I was stranded downtown after getting a little sick at a bar one night. Ended up staying till closing because I was in the bathroom puking. Anyways missed the last train by literally five minutes and SOBBED because I live near Warden Station. The Uber I took home was over a hundred dollars I didn't have and I literally haven't gone out again downtown since. What's the fucking point? I'm not gonna risk that crap again.

Ok hear me out though. In the current state of this city. I don’t feel safe taking the TTC at 4am. It’s a sad reality and I’ve lived here my whole life.

Personally, as a female who works downtown 5 days a week I am more concerned with how you could make transit safer and address commuting challenges during rush hour. Cheaper rides on weekends for people going out is low on my list of priorities! If people aren't going to pay $3.30 to take the ttc on weekends, lowering the cost to $1 isnt going to sway them

What? The TTC offers services all night long. Has the TTC stopped the all night Blue Light buses that run all along routes like Yonge St and Bloor/Danforth? I have many fond and some not so fond memories on the “Vomit” Comet”

This is something we’ll tackle provincially too should Premier Ford… try and live out his fantasy as King of Toronto by power grabbing the TTC like he’s doing with nearly everything else. 😮💨😤

Sir. You will have my vote. BUT I don’t think lowering the fare is the way to go. That money spent on fair needs to pay maintenance and employee’s. Hike it to $5.00 after 1am. Increase employees from 1-5am so everyone feels safe. I think People would rather pay a little more to get home at that hour and feel safe. Still less than an Uber. Abolish Uber and Lyft within city limits. Bring the jobs back to the cab drivers and regulate fares within the city.

Dude, you think that reducing the TTC fare to $1 from what is it, $3.50 now, is going to change? That $2.50 is going to be the person's decision on whether or not they're going to take TTC or Uber? That's ridiculous.
All that's going to do is syphon the money away from the TTC that can be used for operating longer hours, for improving the service. Sorry that's a dumb commentary.
Like I say it's one thing if you're suggesting to reduce the overall cost every day for commuting people because then that all adds up, right? That adds up as far as you know. If you're going to work and back every day then that adds up. It sounds like you're trying to target people going out on weekends. If you think that's going to make a difference, that's guaranteed, that's not part of the decision making of anybody taking TTC on the weekends that's going out for partying.
That $2.50 difference you're talking about is not going to be there, make or break, whether or not they take TTC. I don't think we want to encourage, right now, more people to take the TTC and reduce the cost because every time somebody takes TTC it costs us money. The entire cost of the trip is not covered by the fare box and the TTC is already overwhelmed with people. If we're trying to expand the service and make it run longer, reducing the amount of revenue they make is the opposite of what we need to do. Sorry that doesn't make sense.
