@eleniklimi: My day as a scientist in an oceanographic vessel 🌊⚓🇪🇦 The ODYSSEY project has started aboard the R/V Sarmiento de Gamboa and i am really glad that i am a part of it!!🙏🏻 Our team investigates the geological structures responsible for earthquakes in western Greece, the region with the highest seismic hazard in Europe. The project is led by ICM-CSIC in collaboration with the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, GEOMAR Helmholtz-Zentrum für Ozeanforschung Kiel, CNR-ISMAR, all internationally recognized institutions in marine science and Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company (HEREMA S.A.). On board the Sarmiento de Gamboa, the team is acquiring active seismic and bathymetric data, with the essential support of the UTM technical staff and the ship's crew. #oceanography #ODISSEY #SarmientodeGamboa #marinescience #geophysics
