Born as the daughter of Yoshimura and Ukina, Eto is a natural one-eyed ghoul whose existence was considered extraordinary from birth. Separated from her parents at a young age, she survived alone and eventually became one of the most feared figures in the ghoul world. Behind the identity of the mysterious novelist Sen Takatsuki, Eto secretly lived among humans while simultaneously leading one of the most powerful ghoul organizations in the series. As Sen Takatsuki, Eto became a world-famous author whose novels were read across Japan. Through her books, she explored themes of loneliness, identity, discrimination, and the nature of humanity, reflecting many of the central ideas of Tokyo Ghoul. Both believed that only someone capable of standing between humans and ghouls could break the endless cycle of hatred. Rather than claiming that role herself, Eto spent years preparing the stage for the individual who would eventually inherit it. Throughout Tokyo Ghoul:re, Eto continues influencing major events from behind the scenes, even after being captured by the CCG. Her actions ultimately contribute to Ken Kaneki accepting the title of the One-Eyed King and leading Goat in the final conflict. Eto's relationship with her father, Yoshimura, remains one of the manga's most tragic storylines.
