They only become visible after gaining enough Insight or once the Blood Moon rises. Insight is one of Bloodborne’s most unique mechanics. As your Insight increases, you begin to perceive hidden truths, revealing new enemies, changes in the world, and other unsettling details. Because higher Insight can also make parts of the game more dangerous, some players intentionally keep it low. Amygdala isn’t the name of a single boss—it’s the name of an entire species of Great Ones. There are multiple Amygdalae throughout Bloodborne. The name “Amygdala” comes from the part of the brain that processes fear and emotions, making it a fitting reference for Bloodborne’s themes.
