i think the backrooms movie is one of if not the greatest levels of film i have ever seen. clarks obsession with the backrooms beinf characterized by the fact the backrooms remembered him is such a genius and intuitive remark on how sometimes people really do just want to be seen and heard. he said he wanted to be alone, but truthfully what he wanted was for someone to see him; and he never found that person. But the backrooms was that person for him, it created a space for him to harness his architectural prowess. It's beautiful, the way human misery can look. Sometimes it changes you for the worse, like Clark. But other times, it changes you for the better, like Mary.

the reason people dont like the movie is because they were expecting something much scarier or more informative about the backrooms itself. it's like how some people got mad at sinners for being more about culture when it was advertised as a scary vampire movie. this movie was more of a character study with a backrooms setting rather than a backrooms movie.

I was in tears this whole scene, no joke. I get it, it’s just a movie and, yes, Clark wasn’t a good person. But him coming to terms that he didn’t need to change and “it’s ok, it’s just the way we’re wired” hurt so bad. And he literally got consumed by his other self for his own lack of accountability. Maybe I was rooting too hard for him to get redemption 😭

not enough people understand that this movie is to represent the decay of mental health from trauma and mistakes that consume you. Imagine a computer that has a corrupt file and you delete it but its always there just the data is stored elsewhere and now imagine that computer is your brain and the backrooms is you accidentally rediscovering the corrupted file or trauma in your brain. The curiosity and the returning to the backrooms to explore is you getting so caught up in past traumatic experiences or major mistakes that it eventually consumes you and thats when in the movie he got used to liking it there. But when he lured her into the backrooms (which to sum this part up basically he lured her into the backrooms which in our brain would be talking to someone about your trauma which brings up theirs and then the cycle is they get caught up in their trauma and the cycle continues as they vent and bring up past traumas to other people which leads then to their own "backrooms")

it's so scary how close i was to staying in that hell house like clark in the backrooms. im only 18. the fact that he found comfort in the backrooms remembering him & him not being able to get out of that "comfortable" hold to heal is so insanely scary. amazing edit, 10/10
