My mom gets home health services but no personal care if that makes sense. They send a nurse out to check on her once a week and she's doing physical therapy right now but you have to be on Medicaid in order to get the personal care services and she doesn't qualify.

Mom lives with me and on hospice. Not end of life. 24/7 care. All I get is an aide for a shower 2x week and a visit from a nurse 1x a week. I’m dying here.

Home health will not provide personal care (ie cooking/cleaning/bathing/dressing) that is private pay and what most ppl need. Services such as PT/OT, wound care provided.

I went through a few home health agencies. My dad was paralyzed. They rarely came on the days expected and just talked to my dad for 10min. I learned they were assessing if APS was needed. I hear a lot of people get the help described in the video. Unfortunately it wasn’t our experience. Brightstar was the worst.

This is golden. It took me a while to get aides for my dad, but my dad also put one of them out. 😩 I don’t think the aides were being evaluated. I understood why Daddy did that.

I didn't know to ask specifically for that but we asked about home health many times. her insurance would not pay for it though. we could not find any help for her even though she was blind and crippled with arthritis. we called every organization agency that we could think of or knew about and no one offered any help to a 90-year-old woman who was blind and arthritic and who had Blue Cross Blue shield insurance. insurance would not pay and there was nothing anybody could do. it was exhausting and it was shameful.

Yeah, we got it, but insurance only allowed a handful of visits and would only approve a further 3 visits. The first is intake. The second an actual admission, and the third is a release appointment. Does no good if they can’t be used.
