@nerdymixedpan: I miss the back and forth of season 1 and 2, but the show is not framing Lestat as being 100% truthful . . . #iwtvamc #thevampirelestat #louisdupointedulac #lestatdelioncourt #narrative
I think that some people think that because there isn't the framing of the interview where we knew that Louis's recollection weren't 100% reliable that Lestat is telling the truth. That he
bcs the modern day scenes of S1 and 2 were reliable and word for word, that the modern day scenes in this season were as well. Which they aren't because they make that clear when Louis and Daniel are talking in that restaurant that their conversation is how Lestat imagines it was.

Thirteen of Twelve :
The writers hate Louis is a wiiiiild take. For anyone who watches this show these guys LOVE Louis! This Louis doesn't exist until these shows come along. Lestat is the hero of these books, everybody else gets moments but this is all about Lestat. If you enjoy TV Louis at all know that is because these writers have written a new character that is SO much better than sad sack Louis du Pointe du Lac from the books.

Lestat is reliable but he’s not truthful and there IS a difference between those two. He’ll tell you when he’s lying to you and he’ll omit rather than lie. Louis is unreliable but tries to be truthful to himself (and he prefers a shiny gloss on it)

I just want a Vampire Armand season where the narrative is, surprisingly and ironically, the most truthful out of all the seasons. Not only because it would catch the viewer off guard since Armand's whole thing so far has been being the liar/the manipulator but because, out of all the vampires we've met, Armand is the only one who WANTS to be seen, WANTS to be understood. You can TELL how much Louis's acknowledgment of his past meant to him in the finale.
Armand pausing for a second, as if just now realising himself that, wait, "we DIDN'T talk about it that much." offers the perfect grounds for a season that will make the viewer suspect/undermine every truth he shares and then make them feel bad for doubting because proof will be provided. It'd be SUCH a delicious contrast, all from the character that's been the MOST unreliable so far, signifying how the truth is found in the most unexpected of places.
the narrative could even be based on Armand and Daniel's companionship; Armand is now 'cradled', so he is now also willing to be open.

literally it is FRYING me that people are now going “wow i can’t believe they’ve completely switched it up so that Lestat is a perfect victim and Louis is abusive 🙄“ like WHAAAT DO YOU MEAAAAN!

Hot take: Madeline was the only person who truly saw Claudia for who she was and probably knew Claudia the best 😭😭

I think that Sam said in an interview that Lestat sees Louis cooler than Louis sees himself, so of course we see Louis different than last time... also someone on twitter listed out the albums we have heard so far, it's only 18 out of 111.

People keep watching Unreliable Narration The Show and accepting every bit of dubious info from the narrator! And it's much more obvious this season that Lestat is biased!(Although to be fair maybe that's to be expected, people are also watching the "inhuman monsters being abusive to eachother" show and being shocked beyond comprehension every time one of the monsters is inhuman or abusive...)

during one of the episodes while lestat is narrating the failures, at one point he says something along the lines of "remind me to strike that from the record" so presumably he was leaving stuff out and editing the albums.

I know that he isn't telling the 100% truth. But it's easy to get swept in the narrative and forget what you're seeing isn't what is happening. It makes me wonder how much of Claudia's rantings and revelations were real.

I think I get caught up because Anne Rice said that Lestat was the canonical truth teller of her books - however we aren’t in the Rice universe I don’t think

literally in episode two Lestat says he doesn't exactly know what Daniel and Louis said exactly. he at least owns up to being an unreliable narrator

what is also crazy to me is that they think Lestat "telling the truth" means that the writers hate Louis bc Lestat would never hate Louis

That’s my BIG thing with the Claudia scene. Like I don’t doubt Claudia said stuff like she liked Lestat more… but I also don’t know if she said everything she said in there word for word.

What about this season implies the writers ‘hate’ any of these characters I really wanna know… this fandom irritates me. 😭

The funny thing is they constantly let you know it's from one point of view and people keep forgetting that every time that an episode starts or comes back from commercial it's always " you are listening to the failures album x side x"

Fans are going to need to get comfortable with having the story challenged again if they're going to watch the next season. It sounds like all the key players are getting their POV's explored next season if I'm understanding the showrunners correctly.
