It’s genuinely aggravating, because it’s not just the fandom that mischaracterizes him, it’s most of teyvat. Liyue is a good example, despite being the nation of freedom, and fulfilling his nations purpose because he’s not “ruling” over it, it’s lesser. Whenever people talk about VENTI they speak with grace, and praise, because he’s “special”. However when people speak of Barbatos, they always say “terrible archon,” or something similar. Like how neuvillette dislikes him, and how poorly he’s spoken of as BARBATOS. It really goes to show how all of his efforts go unnoticed by the majority of teyvat.

the reason Mondstadt is the most peaceful nation IS because of him, he was born from a cry of help and fought with strangers until he gained a throne he never wanted in the first place, he used powers beyond him to protect a whole land and its people, reshaped it to their comfort, opened his arms to the Natlanese who came, he faced the henxenzerkiel with grace the aristocrats with fierce. all archons are fantastic but none of them could compare to the peace Barbatos created, Zhongli himself realized how well accomplished venti was and ended up following his steps and "retiring" to give his people the same freedom like his comrade before

They're comparing them to those 500 years archons and a shut in archon whom they claimed to be still active on how they rule and govern their nation... Umm since when did zhongli and venti stop caring for their nation?😭✌️They have been caring for their nation for millennias and never did they stop. Now that their nation is currently at peace, can't they have a well deserve break as well? But despite them taking a break, they still help their people in the shadows, don't they?
