@dontcravemj: 39 years later, and “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” still gives me chills. Released on July 20, 1987, it’s one of Michael Jackson’s most sincere love songs, but it’s the spoken intro that completely wins me over. Imagine someone looking you in the eyes and saying those words. That’s the feeling this song gives me, pure longing, tenderness, and vulnerability. (My heart still belongs to The Lady in My Life when it comes to MJ’s yearning songs, though.) I found this UK 12” single on Discogs for a price that was too good to pass up. At the time, I wasn’t collecting based on pressings or rarity—I simply wanted this version because of that beautiful spoken intro.
