Can you stand on one foot for 30 seconds? If not, it’s time to start training your balance. Balance is one of the biggest indicators of stability, coordination, and long-term movement health, especially as you age. Start with these 5 exercises: • Calf raises to strengthen your feet, ankles, and calves • Relevé calf raises to target ankle stability and inner calf strength • Chair pose holds to build strong quads and knee endurance • Sumo squat holds to strengthen your inner thighs, hips, and knees • Lunge holds to improve knee stability and leg strength • Assisted single leg RDLs to build glutes, hamstrings, ankle strength, and single-leg control Then practice standing on one leg while holding support. As you improve, slowly reduce assistance until you can balance confidently on your own. Strong balance isn’t just about preventing falls. It improves athleticism, joint health, coordination, and longevity. Train it a few times a week, and your body will thank you.
