Explain why everybody has to pay higher water and electricity bills due to local data centers. Why is it our responsibility to pay those bills and not the huge corporations that own the data centers?

Data centers although they are a sign of advancing technology knowledge and infrastructure are bad for communities and the environment. it's heavily dystopic. I imagine the world will be full of smog plastic dried up rivers and destroyed ecosystems in the coming decade.

1. You can’t feed a prompt to family alive 2. The majority of AI usage is not “casting line out farther” 3. You don’t discuss why that water is used - COOLING. Heat cannot be created or destroyed. Cooling is merely the displacement of heat from one area to another. So we are using water and making our planet warmer, both through electrical generation and compute heat. We will look back on this era like the coal powered factories of the Industrial Revolution, all in the pursuit of profit.

local home based server with LLM will reduce the need for data center also if the elites stopped collecting so much data just to get people to Buy Now! will reduce the need for mass amounts of storage and reduce CPU/GPU usage as AI won't need to process the best way for big businesses to sell us more. AI is not the problem, AI is a massive tool for Humanity and maybe this is what we need to become a Solar Punk plant that stops mining and uses what we already have.

Honest critique though I also agree AI (not generative slop) can have its uses. First, it’s not just water (worth mentioning that comparing AI water usage to everyday life is kind of a miss ) . Massive energy requirements, sometimes unsupported, through the data centers needed often pushing prices up. Prices in consumer electronics also skyrocketing. People are being laid off not because it works, but companies need to cut costs to show profits. Not to mention that most of them actually bring back the people they fired because AI simply doesn’t work as intended. We are living in the worst job market and AI is one, if not, the main issue. And all of this for not a single AI company to turn a profit. Yes billions are made and billions more are needed just to keep the lights on. Circle economics between the giants doesn’t equal profit. My personal opinion? The tech is amazing for research and for medicine and for anything that will push humanity forward. The moment it entered corporate, was the end
