Nah, live and learn. Next time go with your son when he buys the tools/item or ask him what he needs directly and buy them yourself. Requiring him open his own account will create more drama and that is his own decision. This relationship is most likely doomed.

Buy him what he needs directly. Ask for a link to the store he buys from and what he needs. Or a gift card to ONLY that store. She basically STOLE $1k. She doesn’t deserve a purse bc she had a baby.

If he needed tools, set up an account with the tool supplier (or gift card) so he can get what he needs and she can’t re-direct it. A little less confrontational, if that keeps the peace

When you give a gift, it is then none of your business. Your son allowed his girlfriend to spend the money. If you don’t like how they handled it, no more cash gifts. For the wedding, offer to pay the bill for specific services instead of giving cash. Don’t say anything about what they did with your gift. Learn from it and move on
