@jackdolanrecovery: 💙💔 As a mum who took that phone call. Who broke and begged to a god I never spoke to. It’s so hard so see the amount of drownings this year alone. The sad thing is it’s all so innocent. Children playing, men rescuing, dogs playing and non of it is with malice. No blame. No control. Just the unknown of the water taking 1 life at a time. This is why I put myself in the “lucky” category! The chances of surviving a drowning are low. The more minutes gone, the temperature of the water etc all change your outcome. 10minutes submerged and found and survived is a unique circumstance and the people who happened to be there that day gave me a 2nd chance. It’s not the life I wanted, nor the life I planned for Jack but grieving a child who drowned has to be worse. And I’m sure I’d beg for this life over the alternative! 💔💙 #fyp
There really has been so many this year, it’s heartbreaking 💔

It does seem to be everywhere, so many children, teenagers and young adults. They think they are invincible - they really aren’t. It’s heartbreaking to hear of it so often - the extended heat wave maybe.

A friend of my daughter died last month during the heatwave. His friends were all in the lake but he couldn’t swim. He jumped in anyway and didn’t resurface. They found him 7 hours later. He was 13. Sadly, these young people don’t see the danger x

It's definitely more often now sadly.Had 2 that I know of local to me in Essex. My daughter has just broken up for summer holidays, her secondary school put on a whole school assembly about the dangers of swimming in lakes etc just before they broke up, even sent home emails to the parents asking us to remind and educate our children on the dangers. So sad that more isn't being done to educate these youngsters 😔

Absolutely fear the holidays, I live in a seaside town and in the winter we see the coast guards maybe 4 times but the summer we see it about 30 times. Last year I ended up crying on my back door because the amount of times it came out and you’d go on fb and see “confirmed loss” it’s heartbreaking💜

I have a river at the back of my house and the amount of young children jumping in is crazy, can’t tell them tho as they just swear at you. The river has currents and so much reeds and crap that could pull them down :(

Its definitely on the rise, im guessing the rising summer temperatures in the uk have more people needing to cool off etc. I can only imagine how triggering this is for you. I dont understand how people still underestimate the power of water, whether sea, lake, river, reservoir, canal..... mother nature is a bad ass and needs respecting and care taken around her at all times xx
