I grew up with a great grandma who survived the holodomor. I heard horrifying things and she clearly hadn't processed it. I was 4-6, it was NOT okay to share all the gruesome details with a small child, but I recognise she probably never had anyone sit down and listen before. Holodomor was... terrible. For anyone interested, I HIGHLY recommend the graphic novel "The Ukrainian Notebooks" by Igort. It was JUST like what he depicted, since he researched by listening to people like my great grandma. He probably helped them grieve and process for the first time as well. It's so, so good.

moreover, the entire narrative that eastern/southern regions in ukraine including donbass were mostly populated by ethnic russians (pre-2014 onward occupation) is false and can be refuted by 2001 census. the only exception where the majority of citizens were ethnic russians is crimea (after stalin deported crimean tatars in 1943 and shipped in russians), but not donetsk/luhansk/etc
