i don't think that's true, pan is a child of Hermes in one myth but in the other (which we have more proof that it is probably true) Pan is older then Hermes and was before Hermes even existed and was the original Hermes

I'm rather surprised that there isn't more discussion about Odysseus's return being about his clearing away all the other dudes who were texting with his wife while she was away. I feel like Odysseus's party trick of shooting an arrow through loops has long been seen as a fairly surface metaphorical demonstration of his virility in his older age.
