@jessicamadisonhome: College parents! Or students! SOS from a first time college parent who has no clue what my boys REALLY need. Tell me EVERYTHING! #dormlife #collegelife #backtoschool
Must buy- WooZoo Fan (it’s worth the money), twin XL sheets but full size comforter, extra charger cables, and if you can afford it, an IPad for class along with a laptop. They only need 2 bath towels and beach towel. Get the detergent sheets that turn into dryer sheets- less mess and they work better in the washer. They will NOT use the cleaning supplies. Get lots of their favorite snacks. Get a dish drying mat to go under their shower/ bath caddy to keep mold and mildew at bay.

Honestly - let them figure it all out with minimal help. They will be better for it. Having put 2 kids through college (one boy and one girl) - boys are super easy. They want the bare minimum. The girl wanted everything under the sun. She coordinated with her roommate freshman year and they pretty did everything.

Wazoo fan, nicest mattress pad you can get. 2 bath towels is plenty, 2 sheets is nice, I would do a twin…sometimes the longer one hangs down and gets in the way. Get a medicine kit so they have what the need when

Call the campus and see what their restrictions are. My sons wheeled in computer chairs only for me to have to return with them.. they allowed no extra furniture or soft materials like bean bags. Their mattresses were twin xl so a regular sheet set won’t work. Most used item: electric tea kettle for hot drinks and ramen.

Ok if you have a boy don’t over buy.. I bought my kid 3 sets of towels and he only would take 1. Also wait till you get there to get some things.. for example my kid was in a quad dorm. Everyone brought a shower mat, pots etc so we took half the stuff back.

we really waited until we were moving her in, we rented risers for her bed and then were able to go get storage. and plenty of snacks, my girl was picky and didn't always want the food in the cafe

Female students- taser, pepper spray, a baseball bat to keep near the bed. My daughter went to a school with coed dorms. Her roommate would leave young men (strangers to my daughter) constantly in her room by themselves and my daughter would walk in not knowing there was anyone in there. Also to carry with them when they go out…
