When you own a dog, I highly recommend having a bloat kit on hand. We owned Danes and it was a must have in our household. Especially for larger dogs

just so everyone knows prophylactic gastropexy is a surgery recommend for many large dog breeds that permanently fixes the stomach and doesn't allow it to twist. so many people don't know this is an option but it can save our fur babies ❤️

people get super upset with me when my dog is panting heavy and i don’t immediately get her water. i’m sorry but she’s gunna gain control of her breathing before she’s given anything because im so afraid of bloat it’s crazy. i’m so sorry for your loss 🥺

Every big dog needs their stomach stapled to the outer muscles when they go in to the vet to get fixed. It’s basic knowledge in other countries…ours is one of the only ones that doesn’t just included it. Any vet can do it…all you have to do is ask

Please please get your dogs a gastropexy!! Especially during a neuter! Yes it costs a few hundred more, but emergency GDV surgery costs thousands AND your dogs life at extreme risk

Bloat in dogs isn’t talked about enough!!! I didn’t even know what it was until recently and I have a barrel chested dog! It now terrifies me to the point I got one of my dogs a slow feeder because she eats so fast.

This happened to me with my German shepherd I was 9 I said bye to her every morning before school one day I found her so sick her stomach turned inside out and that was the last time I ever saw her. It was awful.

she just felt sick for a couple days. we take her to the vet and they tell us there’s a rupture in her abdomen. why didn’t she give us a fucking sign? we might’ve been able to save her before her 11th birthday.

Picked him up from his grooming appointment in march and it looked like he ate a basketball. We did the surgery but it was already too late. I miss him. He was only 4 :(

we lost our big boy to it... we were always so careful with it as well... He had a water bowl so he can drink during the night in the house and when my dad woke up in the morning he noticed Kai was sleeping but wasnt responding to him ( this dog loved my dad and the sound of his voice always woke him up) Dad rushed him to the vet but it was too late, he passed away at the vets office with my dad next to him. I've never heard my dad cry this much before, he was broken. Kai was 9 years old.
