The bacterial mats at prismatic are highly fragile and easily scar. Their hideous birkenstock footprints will likely be seen for decades. Theyre also lucky to be alive. Bison are known to fall through those bacterial mats and boil alive. That ground is NOT solid- its a crust layer over a vat of boiling water.

So FYI folks what they’re walking on is a giant bacterial “mat.” It may seem solid but it isn’t. It floats on the water and can and will tear and drop you into the soup pot. Don’t do this.
