We wish we could say this wasn’t a true story. 💔 At 16 years old and only 3 pounds, Shicky was surrendered by her family because she was “too old” and “smelled.” She came to us with her best friend, Lulu, who sadly passed away shortly after arriving due to liver cancer and heart failure. Now Shicky is facing a new chapter completely on her own. Shicky doesn’t understand why she isn’t home anymore. Despite everything, she hasn’t lost her spirit. She’s independent, opinionated, and happiest when she’s allowed to do things on her own terms. She’s not a lap dog, and that’s perfectly okay. We love her exactly as she is. Unfortunately, Shicky also arrived with significant medical needs. She had severe dental disease, mammary tumors, and an inguinal hernia requiring surgical repair. So far, her care has included: • Mastectomy • Dental surgery • Chest X-rays • Extensive bloodwork Her medical expenses have already exceeded $1,400, and we currently have $0 raised toward those costs. Senior dogs like Shicky are often overlooked because of their age and medical needs. We believe they deserve the same chance at comfort, love, and quality veterinary care as any other dog.
