@annefrankhouse: After Anne Frank and her family had left Germany, they moved to Merwedeplein in December 1933. She spent almost nine years of her life there, until Margot was called up in July 1942. After that, the family went into hiding in the Secret Annex. In this video, you can see the house as it looks today, along with the small statue that was later placed there in honour of Anne Frank. this tree is the one anne frank would look at out her window. when she was in hiding she could not go outside obviously and this tree was the only living thing in the outdoors she could see out her window. they cut off a bit of the tree and planted it in washington DC next to the capital building. i was so lucky to see this and more especially the holocaust museum. this is an awful part in history and i’ve cried everytime i’ve heard about it but it’s so interesting and important to learn about this wicked event.
